HALL CURRENT EFFECT ON THE MAGNETIC-FIELD DISSIPATION

摘要
The damping of the strong magnetic field omega-B-tau >> 1, where omega-B is the electron gyro-frequency and tau is the relaxation time, in a conducting ball is considered. It is shown that the dissipative Hall currents may accelerate significantly the magnetic field damping. This occurs due to the formation of the regions with the high densities of electric current and strong inhomogeneities of magnetic field, where the accelerated dissipation takes place. It is found that the field symmetry may vary temporarily during the evolution. So the field symmetric to the equator plane primarily may become of the mirror symmetry due to the Hall effect and some time later when the dissipation effects are dominant the field returns again to the primary configuration, its value decreasing strongly.
