INDOOR AND SOIL RADON MEASUREMENTS IN A TROPICAL CLIMATE

摘要
Indoor and soil radon measurements are reported from Ghana, a tropical country, over the period 1989-1990. Using the closed can technique, radon levels in residential dwellings and occupational environments in the Kumasi metropolis and neighbouring communities have been calculated from the alpha-track density on CR-39 solid state nuclear track detectors. Radon concentrations have been calculated from in situ measurements of soil at building sites and from laboratory measurements on soil samples from brickmaking factories in Ghana. This is the first time such documentation has been made in the area of radon monitoring in Ghana.
