摘要
The design and implementation of flexible machining cells calls for a systematic modelling methodology. An AI-based modelling system is briefly described that is capable of modelling alternative facilities over multiple levels of detail. Emphasis is then placed on the presentation of the manufacturing knowledge embedded within the three levels of modelling. The operational assumptions, the state transformation and the decision making at each level are closely described, and typical behavioural and decision rules are discussed.
