SYNTHESIS OF SOME NEW 1,2,3-SELENAZOLOPYRIMIDINES AND 1,2,3-THIADIAZOLOPYRIMIDINES

5-Acetyl-2-aryl-4-mercaptoacetyl-chloride-6-methylpyrimidines 2 were allowed to react with isomeric amino acetophenone to give the corresponding anilides 3. The latter compounds were reacted with semicarbazide and gave the corresponding semicarbazones 4. Compounds 4 were subjected to oxidative cyclization either by selenium dioxide or thionyl chloride to give selena and thiadiazolopyrimidines respectively. The structure of the final compounds were deduced from elemental and spectral data.
