ESCHER WYSS SIZEPRESS WITH INTEGRAL FILMPRESS FOR HIGH-SPEED PAPER MACHINES

The rise of machine speed for writing and printing papers to over 1000 m/min, has meant that the size press for surface treatment with starch and pigment was forced to keep up with the increased requirements. The creation and action of the hydraulic pressure, are discussed and various influences on the work of the sizepress are dealt with in detail; for instance the absorption power of the base paper, viscosity and consistency of the sizing liquid and the diameter of the rolls. A modern sizepress with NIPCO-roll is presented. The picture is completed by referring to some practical experiences with graphic papers. The possibility to add a filmpress to the installation is also discussed in detail.
