摘要
Ecosystem-based multiple use forest management planning concept focuses on developing alternative silvicultural treatments to achieve a desired flow of products and services from the forest ecosystem over time. Modelling techniques like simulation are indispensable tools to generate planning alternatives and determine an optimal management schedule among them to justify sustainable use of forests. This paper provides a framework for a simulation-based forest management model. In this context, firstly, the simulation model was explained, and then, its use in forest management planning was explored in detail. Finally, the advantages and disadvantages of simulation models were discussed. It is concluded that simulation models are important for understanding forest ecosystem structure, planning of forest ecosystems, and sustainable forest management.
