摘要：
Based on a contrastive study of a corpus of French academic documents and their corresponding sworn translations into Spanish, the present article aims to analyse from a functionalist standpoint the translation techniques that have been applied in the translation process. By applying the concepts of translation "technique"and "method", the analysis considers translational as well as methodological aspects of sworn translation. The results show the tension between adequacy and acceptability brought to bear by the translation process, and also demonstrate the important role of the source culture in determining the global translation method.
