摘要
The fundamental limit in transmission distance, associated with the Gordon-Haus timing jitter, is evaluated for an optical-fiber pulse position modulation (PPM) soliton system. We demonstrate that soliton PPM is more susceptible to this type of timing jitter and that the maximum span length is limited to 65% of that of an equivalent soliton PCM system.
