GASTROINTESTINAL ENDOSCOPY - PRESENT AND FUTURE CHALLENGES FOR GASTROINTESTINAL SURGEONS

This special issue has been planned with several goals in mind. The first of these is to highlight recent changes in endoscopic practice, since it is now virtually impossible to provide care for patients with diseases of the gastrointestinal tract without the benefit of endoscopic insights. The second goal of this text is to highlight the contributions of surgeons who have dared to break the mold, who have had the courage to pursue endoscopic knowledge to adapt traditional surgical techniques to endoscopic performance.
