摘要
Transient state absorption bands of 4-(9-anthryl)-N,N-dimethylaniline in 1-butanol were studied in the spectral range between 540 and 860 nm in order to investigate the kinetics of a possible charge transfer (CT) process as a function of the environment. This process may involve a twisted intramolecular charge transfer conformation of the molecule. At higher pressures, the longer wavelength excited state absorption band, usually assigned to the CT state, grew in more rapidly. This would indicate that, for this solvent at the higher pressures studied, the increase in solvent polarity is more important than the hindering effect of the higher viscosity.
