ALTERNATIVE MANAGEMENT OF PULP AND PAPER-INDUSTRY SOLID-WASTES

Research concerning the management of pulp and paper industry solid wastes has centered on conventional alternatives. This report focuses on nonconventional methods. It provides information on past and present research activities as well as a discussion of paper industry experience with alternative solid waste management programs. The discussion includes many sludge management alternatives including several which have recently received considerable attention and considers lime grit, green liquor dregs, wood ash, and bark.
