摘要
Among insects pests of rice (Oryza sativa L.) the brown planthopper (Nilaparvata lugens Stal.), white-backed planthopper (Sogatella furcifera Horvath) and gall-midge (Pachydiplosis oryzae Wood-Mason) are considered serious. Programs were initiated for the development of varieties combining yield and a desirable level of resistance to 2 or more insect pests or diseases. A large number of varities obtained from various sources were evaluated against the 3 major insect pests under greenhouse conditions at Hyderabad, India. Fifty varieties exhibited multiple resistance. Many donors possessing resistance to brown planthopper were from Kerala.
