摘要
The kinetics of intermolecular excimer formation are considered in the case where the formation rate is diffusion controlled. As a first step, we assume that an instantaneous monomer-excimer equilibrium occurs: It provides some interesting insights into the influence of the back-reaction on diffusion-controlled reactions. A more realistic model is then developed to provide a complete description of the reaction. Predictions of this model are compared with those of simplified models and with the classic expression for the diffusion-controlled forward rate coefficient. © 1990 American Chemical Society.
