摘要
The idea that one's competencies are as important as one's qualifications has gained acceptance in both business and academia. Business organizations have developed sophisticated management systems around employee competence. There are education assessment tools that help ascertain students' competencies. In this study, the authors investigated one such tool entitled Making the Match: Base Competencies and Skill Sets. The authors conducted the study to develop an understanding of the sources of student competence exclusive of the college curriculum. The authors found significant correlations between student personal characteristics, student background characteristics, and their work-related competencies.
