摘要
The amount of data collected by large telecommunications companies like BT is vast. In order to turn this voluminous data into valuable information it is necessary to apply analysis techniques to build models and characteristics of data. This paper gives an overview of a range of techniques used for data analysis collectively known as data mining. Three broad categories of data mining techniques are suggested and the reader is introduced to popular algorithms within each category. References to additional algorithms are also presented so that the reader may gain more detailed information if required.
