This article analyzes the spectacular and spacial construction of an early auto sacramental by Calderon de la Barca, La cena del rey Baltasar. In order to do so, we examine the meaning of the different scenic elements (carros, theatrical machinery, and atrezzo), as well as the music, clothing, and scenic and dramatic spaces.
