摘要：
The emergence of technology as part of the knowledge society, has generated several consequences, including the modification of the various fields of the society. The classic concept of a library is stressed with the appearance of terms like " virtual", " electronic" and " digital", becoming a threat. This article, from the perspective of librarianship, to analyze the phenomenon trying to account for these new taxonomies and its implications regarding the essence of the library beyond the technology and software dynamics.
