摘要
Sr-90 and Cs-137 in liquid waste released from the waste disposal plant of Office of Atomic Energy for Peace (OAEP) have been followed since 1984. The concentration of both nuclides in surface water outside OAEP boundary is 2 to 30 times less than in the OAEP pond, the reservoir of liquid waste. This indicated that most of the nuclides are effectively absorbed by clay in the bottom of the pond. The nuclide concentration in freshwater organisms in the pond such as fish, prawn and snail is also investigated to elucidate the behavior of Sr-90 and Cs-137 in a static freshwater ecological system.
