LOW-IMPEDANCE GENERATOR OF HIGH-VOLTAGE PULSES

The authors describe and provide test results for a compact high-voltage generator containing two capacitors with heteropolar charging whose plates are connected to the electrodes of a controlled discharger. A pulsed high voltage is produced by initiation of discharge between the case leads of the capacitors, which are isolated from one another by a megohm high-voltage resistor. The pulse amplitude reaches 50 kV, the rise times are 30 and 60 nsec, the self-inductances are 110 and 140 kH, and the impedances are 1.5 and 1.1-OMEGA for storage capacitors of 0.1 and 0.22-mu-F, respectively.
