Throughout their nearly forty-years history, the Huesca International Film Festival has devoted an important space to animation. During fifteen editions the festival featured a prize for the Best Animated Short, the Silver Dancer. Since 1997, animation entered the overall production of short films, compiting with other film languages. In addition, the event at Huesca has set various tributes and retrospectives, as well as several books devoted to international major figures at the animation scene have been published.
