摘要
Independence is much more that a precise historical process circumscribed to the military campaign by which the Spanish armies were defeated in America and that entailed the end of the colonial administration. It also can be seen as the point from which the new history was interpreted. This new history would start building the country resulting from the collapse of the Spanish colonial order, in this case, New Granada. This article tries to show how Jose Maria Samper, in a part of his intellectual work, understood Independence as the breaking point in which History, along with a series of close concepts such as freedom, would transcend the fact of military campaign.
