This paper investigates Joaquim Nabuco's literary concept, as he displays it in his book of memories, Minha formacao. The analysis aims at two different goals: firstly, to describe the stylistic of Nabuco's works, which is remarkably recognized to stand on clarity and interpretative efficiency; secondly, based upon his concept of literature, to investigate the trends of his literary generation, which ranks from late Romanticism to early Realism.
