摘要：
Transition zones between human settlements and the surrounding rural areas were analysed from the viewpoint of the ecotone concept. Greater habitat diversity, higher vegetation diversity, higher plant species richness and increased abundances of some species are features typical of settlement outskirts that may be considered as ecotones. The presented conclusions are supported with evidence contained in previously published studies on the central European flora and vegetation.
