摘要
This paper describes a scheme using the multi-virtual-path techniques (e.g., by the connection oriented scheme, TCP establishes the virtual path for communications between source and destination nodes) to reduce the end-to-end delay in the Internet environments. In modern Internet networks, to achieve minimum end-to-end delay from the source node to the destination node is a stringent problem. In this paper we examine the end-to-end delay optimization based on the fixed packet length restriction. The characteristic of packet switching applying the fixed packet length methodology will benefit on easy implementation for message playback efficiently at the destination node. In our approach, a method using proper message partition scheme based on the fixed packet length is proposed for minimum end-to-end delay. Our approach is focused on adequate partition of the message at the source node into smaller size of message. Then, each smaller size message can go through its own virtual path and finally reaches the destination node. We call such organization as the multivirtual-path mechanism. Our contribution is focused on the effective delay reduction due to message switching between the source node and the destination node. The presented technology has the advantages both on delay reduction and easy implementation on playback. This method can be widely applied to modern real-time environments for performance improving, especially for delay-sensitive networks.
