The concept of problem and its solving in the context of contemporay philosphy and natural science methodology is explicated in this paper. The aim of the research is to make a metrically reliable instrument for measuring the scientific creativity and the components of divergent thinking, so as to solve the problem of the relation between scholastic ability and creativity and the relation between certain components of divergent thinking. The results of the research obtained by using the scientific ceativity test confirmed the indications of the correlation between scholastic ability and the students' creative potentials, as well as the differences in the distribution of results concerning certain components of divergent thinking.
