摘要：
Aesthetics and dentine hypersensitivity are disagreeable consequences for patients with gingival recessions. From a medical point of view-exposed roots are a preferred site for caries and abrasions. Not every recession has to be covered surgically. It can be equally successful to stop the progression of gingival recessions by caries and abrasion prophylaxis. Treatment of etiological factors is of utmost importance, regardless of surgical or non-surgical intervention. This is why the predisposing and triggering factors are described in detail in this article.
