Several potential lipoxygenase inhibitors have been synthesized from (9Z)-12-hydroxyoctadecen-9-oic (ricinoleic) acid methyl ester: methyl 8-(5'-hexyl-2'-furyl)octanoate, methyl (9Z)-12-azidooctadecen-9-oate, methyl (9Z)-12-methoxycarbonyloctadecen-9-oate to be studied as sucidal substrates.
