Injuries to the Lisfranc joint are relatively uncommon in athletes, but they can have a debilitating outcome on performance if they are not identified and managed appropriately. This type of injury can be difficult to identify radiographically and usually presents as a subtle diastasis between the first and second metatarsal base. The authors finds that specific bony relationships on lateral weightbearing radiographs have proved useful in discerning the magnitude of injury.
