FEDERAL ARCHIVAL AGENCY UPDATE

The update analyses scientific and methodological activities of the Federal Archival Agency and of federal archives. It addresses issues of archival documents usage, storage and registration of documents in state and municipal archives. It reviews the developement prospects of the unified archival information system "Archival Fond" consisting of associated software applications "Archival Fond", "Fond Catalogue", "Central Fond Catalogue" and assessespersonnel document retention period. It informs of the timeline for realization of the Concept of State Policies for Memorialization of Victims of Political Repression; of the results of the All-Russian professional skill competition in archival field "Best Russian Archivist 2015/2016"; of setting-up of a news section for every archival institution of the Russian Federation on the Web portal "Russian Archives". It assesses the cooperation between the Federal Archival Agency and the Vatican Secret Archives, the stepping-up in bilateral relations and cooperation with the state archives of the Slavic states. It reports the analog to digital conversion of an unique card index of soldiers and officers losses during World War I; the safeguarding of letters, petitions, classification cards and other documents of N.M. Karamzin, R.G. Derzhavin, N.I. Novikov, I.I. Dmitriev, A.S. Shishkov, P.A. Vyazemsky, V.A. Zhukovsky, A.S. Pushkin, and others.
