The integration of the so far separated production stages injection moulding and laminating into a single production process is the most important stimulus for developing the backing technique using injection moulding. As with all highly integrated processes, this technique permits considerably greater economy in production. However, the use of the technique involves particularly high requirements in mould design and process engineering.
