REFLECTIONS ON THE TOURISM SOCIOECONOMIC IMPACTS IN THE FOZ DO IGUACU CITY

Tourism is a social phenomenon that can generate positive and negative impacts. Among the effects of tourism activity are the economic and social ones. It's known, in a subjective and empirical way, the relevance that the tourism segment exerts to the economy of the Foz do Iguacu city, but the information pertinent to the real impact and strength that it provides for the city is still scarce. The scarcity of objective data that make tangible the benefits that tourism has to the city has led to the need to deepen this theme. Thus, this article aimed to reflect on the socioeconomic impacts of tourism in the Foz do Iguacu. As for the methodology, a qualitative, exploratory research was used of the bibliographical and documentary research. The technique used to analyze the data collected was content analysis. The results allowed us to perceive relevant impacts on the economy of Foz do Iguacu. Tourism represents a significant source of tax collection for the city. As well, the PIB tourist city proved to be more relevant than the collaboration of tourism in the GDP of Parana. In addition, tourism activities serve as an important source of employment for the citizens. By demonstrating the role of duality that tourism has, it is necessary that the municipality understands the size of each advantage and the possible disadvantages tied to them.
