TOWARDS AN AUSTRALIAN SCIENCE POLICY

In the last issue Simon Crean, Australian Minister for Science and Technology, presented his vision for the future. As we like to be politically impartial, for this issue I asked Mr Crean's opposition counterpart to raise topics he felt were important. In this article he argues that the rigidity of institutional roles and affiliation is hampering the Australian science community from adapting to the imperatives of economic stringency.
