THE CIRRUS IMMULITE AUTOMATED IMMUNOASSAY SYSTEM

The Cirrus Diagnostics IMMULITE(TM) is a random access automated immunoassay system built around a proprietary assay tube that provides for rapid and efficient washing of the captive antibody coated bead by spinning the tube on its vertical axis. Sample, excess reagent, and wash solution are captured in a coaxial waste sump integral with the tube. The alkaline phosphatase label is measured using a sensitive chemiluminescent substrate. System operation is very simple. The operator loads a carousel with label reagent for up to twelve resident assays. Samples in bar coded tubes are placed onto a continuous conveyer followed by up to five different assay tubes in any order. Samples can be added at any time and stats can be inserted as the next sample to be processed with no loss in throughput. Throughput is 120 tests per hour and the first result is available in 45 minutes. Periodic calibration of the stored standard curves is done with two calibrators which are loaded just like samples.
