MEASUREMENT OF THE ELASTIC, TOTAL AND SINGLE DIFFRACTION CROSS-SECTIONS AT TEVATRON ENERGIES

Results are presented for a measurement of the differential elastic cross-section d sigma(el)/dt, the single-diffraction dissociation double differential cross-section d(2) sigma(sd)/dM(2)dt and the total inelastic cross-section in antiproton-proton collisions at centre-of-mass energies root s = 546 and 1800 GeV. The elastic-scattering slope is 15.28 +/- 0.58 (16.98 +/- 0.25) GeV-2 at root s = 546 (1800) GeV. Using the luminosity-independent method, (1 + p(2))sigma(T) is measured to be 62.64 +/- 0.95 (81.88 +/- 2.29) mb at root s = 546 (1800) GeV. Assuming p = 0.15, the elastic, total and single-diffractive cross-sections are sigma(el) = 12.87 +/- 0.30, sigma(T) = 61.26 +/- 0.93 and sigma(sd) = = 7.89 +/- 0.33 mb (sigma(el) = 19.70 +/- 0.85, sigma(T) = 80.03 +/- 2.24 and sigma(sd) = 9.46 +/- 0.44 mb) at 546 (1800) GeV.
