FREE-VIBRATION ANALYSIS OF SIMPLY SUPPORTED RECTANGULAR-PLATES WITH INTERNAL LINE SUPPORT ALONG DIAGONALS

An analytical solution based on the superposition method is developed for the first time for the free vibration of the title problem. While it will be seen that the line support is replaced by point supports, convergence tests show that a limited number of point supports provide excellent solution accuracy. Three families of vibration modes are delineated and accurate eigenvalues are presented for the first four free vibration modes of plates with a wide range of plate geometrics. Three-dimensional mode shapes are plotted for some typical square plates. © 1993 Academic Press Limited.
