DEPOSITION EFFICIENCY IN ELECTROSTATIC SPRAYING OF POWDER COATING

摘要
In electrostatic application of powder coatings, deposition efficiency depends on powder characteristics and application variables. Among powder characteristics, larger particle size, spherical particle shape, and optimum electrical surface resistivity result in higher deposition efficiency. Among application variables, higher charging voltage, shorter gun-to-substrate distance, low film thickness, large substrate size, and low air velocity result in higher deposition efficiency. The dependence of deposition efficiency on both powder and application variables is presented, and guidelines to improve deposition efficiency are recommended.
