摘要
We report the results of a survey of the 2-mu-m polarization properties of radio-loud and radio-quiet quasars. We find that the polarizations were all less than 2.5% and almost all less than 1.5%. In cases where the infrared polarization was unambiguously detected, a comparison of the infrared and optical polarization characteristics suggests that all of the polarization is the result of scattering (with one exception). Both these data and infrared spectral information are consistent with the bulk of the infrared emission being due to heated dust grains.
