THE KINETICS OF THE REACTIONS OF N-BUTYL, ISOBUTYL, AND SEC-BUTYL ALCOHOLS WITH ISOBUTYLENE

摘要
The kinetics of the reactions of n-butyl, isobutyl, and sec-butyl alcohols with isobutylene is studied in a liquid phase at 303 - 333 K in the presence of the KU-23 sulfonated ion-exchange resin. It is found that the reactions exhibit the first order behavior relative to isobutylene and a variable order relative to alcohols. An introduction in a kinetic equation of a coefficient allowing for a deviation of the reacting system from the ideality permits one to obtain a first-order dependence with respect to alcohols. The activation energies for reactions of n-butyl, iso-Butyl, and sec-butyl alcohols are 66.4 +/- 3.6, 64.7 +/- 3.1, and 68.6 +/- 6.9 kJ/mol, respectively.
