摘要
Austrian Federal Railways (OBB) have in 1987 no fewer than 45 locomotives with Brown Boveri three-phase propulsion systems in operation or on order. OBB's embrace of modern technology has played a major role in their success, and has a long tradition going back to the era of steam traction. Over the years Brown Boveri have made important contributions to this development with new generations of electric drive technology. The latest is described in this article: heavy-haul, three-phase shunting locomotives of classes 1063 and 1064.
