Many of you have read Ellen Baer's and Suzanne Gordon's article, ''Money Managers are Unravelling the Thread of Nursing,'' in a recent issue of the American Journal of Nursing. The following article, written by Bob Lederer, a long time activist for alternative, holistic treatments for persons with AIDS, adds the community's voice to nursing's concerns about the constraints placed on health care delivery by undue emphasis on the monetary bottom line. I hope a recognition of this shared concern will fuel further collaboration between nursing and community groups toward a more humane, less mercenary ideal of treatment for persons with AIDS, and for health care reform in general.
