DISTRIBUTION OF EFFECTIVE BARRIERS IN HEAVY-ION FUSION AT NEAR-BARRIER ENERGIES

摘要
Experimental data on the fusion cross sections and the average angular momentum of the compound nucleus for the reactions S-32+Mo-100 and S-36+Mo-96 are analyzed on the basis of the coupled-channels method. It is shown that transfer channels with positive Q(reac) are important in order to obtain a correct description of the data. Intermediate couplings between excited states change the shape of the barrier distribution, making it closer to the shape obtained in the phenomenological Stelson model.
