SEARCH FOR NEW GAUGE BOSONS IN THE DECAYS OF PSEUDOSCALAR MESONS

We perform a model-independent analysis of the possibilities for an experimental search for new gauge bosons in the radiative decays of pi-0, eta, and eta'-mesons. To this end we investigate all possible experimental constraints on the properties of light gauge bosons. We show that the partial widths of such decays could amount to BR(pi-0 --> gamma + X) lesser-than-or-approximately 10(-3), BR (eta --> gamma + X) lesser-than-or-approximately 10(-4), and BR(eta' --> gamma + X) lesser-than-or-approximately 10(-6), which is of greater interest from the experimental point of view.
