摘要
When direct comparisons are made of the productivity of C3 and C4 species, there is no consistent difference in productivity between the 2 groups. The greater rates of light-saturated leaf photosynthesis in C4 plants are not translated into greater stand productivity because of low irradiance at the leaf surface in dense stands, because of various interactions that occur between processes and organics within plants, and because light is usually less limiting than water and mineral nutrients. -from Author
