Training and education of workers in order to prevent occupational lung diseases represent a challenge to employers, unions, clinicians, and other interested groups. This review discusses the goals of educational programs, regulatory requirements of these programs, other factors that have motivated training, criteria to predict success of a program, and controversies in worker education.
