Atrioventricular Block in a Patient with Rheumatoid Arthritis

Rheumatoid arthritis is the most common chronic autoimmune disease in the general population. Although cardiovascular complications are not seldom, atrioventricular block is rarely seen. The most common form is complete Av block. Herein, we report a 62 year-old patient with RA who had presented with complete AV block. He was admitted to the emergency clinic with the complaints of dizziness and fainting. Physical examination revealed a heart rate of 38 bpm and a blood pressure of 90/50 mmHg. ECG revealed complete AV block. Echocardiography and coronary angiography for differential diagnosis did not reveal any significant findings. A VDD-R pacemaker was implanted. The patient did not have any complaints on his control visit.
