FEATURES OF STRUCTURE FORMATION DURING ELECTRIC SPARK HARDENING OF ROLL MATERIALS

摘要
The possibility of using electric spark hardening to strengthen hot mill rolls was investigated, and the processes occurring in applied layers during operation of the rolls were studied. Features of structure formation after such treatment and after wear resistance tests of specimens of chromium-nickel cast iron used to manufacture section mill rolls with lamellar and spheroidal graphite were established. It is best to use chromium steel as the alloying electrode during electric spark hardening, as it ensures maximum hardness and wear resistance of the working part of the chromium-nickel cast iron rolls.
