MIGRATION, RACE AND ETHNICITY, 1960-1980

This article compares racial and ethnic patterns in interstate and interregional migration in the years 1960 to 1980. The likelihood of interstate migration among Asians, blacks, Hispanics and American Indians has become more similar to that for whites. The odds of migrating were lowest for blacks. The regional distribution of whites has become more similar to that of Asians, blacks and Hispanics, but significant differences persist. The South and West experienced net inmigration of all groups during the 1975-1980 period. -Authors
