摘要
Recent progress of our studies on the magneto-optical (MO) properties of ultra-thin epitaxial magnetic films is reported. The MO effect, which is used to read magnetic memory dots on MO recording disks, can be enhanced by the quantum size effect in magnetic ultra-thin films. This is due to a singularity of the density of states related to the formation of quantum well states in the ferromagnetic ultra-thin films.
