摘要：

The aim of this article is to study the important and decisive role that the figure of the European Ombudsman has played in the European arena since 1992. On one hand, the political power of this figure has made possible a real approach to the European citizens to the decisory organs. On the other hand, it has reinforced the system of protection of the Fundamental Rights with in the legal framework of the Union. These facts make possible for the European Ombudsman to investigate the maladministration in the activities of the institutions and bodies of the European Union.
