CONTROLLABLE ENHANCEMENT OF EXCITONIC SPONTANEOUS EMISSION BY QUANTUM CONFINED STARK-EFFECT IN GAAS QUANTUM-WELLS EMBEDDED IN QUANTUM MICROCAVITIES

Controllable enhancement of excitonic spontaneous emission is demonstrated with the tuning of emission wavelength by electric fields applied to GaAs single quantum wells located inside half-wavelength microcavities at low temperature, approximately 50 K. Radiation patterns of the spontaneous emission from the microcavities, containing the quantum wells are found to be well controlled by the electric fields.
